Peer Support Training

Peer Support Training is a foundational program designed specifically for first responders to equip them with the tools and confidence to support their peers facing mental health and stress challenges. This course helps participants recognize the warning signs of stress injuries and emotional distress, break the stigma around seeking help, and engage in meaningful conversations about mental health. Using a peer-to-peer model, the training covers essential skills like active listening, stress management, and navigating difficult conversations, all within the context of first responder culture. Through hands-on practice and group discussions, participants will leave with practical strategies to help colleagues in need, fostering resilience and well-being within their teams.
PROTECT Advanced
Peer Support Training
The PROTECT (Promoting Resilience. Observing. Training. Empowering. Connecting. Thriving.) Advanced Peer Support Training is designed for first responders who have completed foundational peer support training and are ready to take their skills to the next level. This advanced course focuses on equipping participants with the knowledge and tools needed to address suicide risk among their peers. Through interactive sessions and skill-building exercises, participants will learn to identify risk factors, engage in open discussions about suicide, and develop effective Crisis Response Plans (CRP) for those in need. With a focus on real-world application, this training empowers first responders to confidently support their peers through crisis situations, helping to save lives and promote resilience within their teams.


Mental Health Awareness
The Mental Health Awareness Understanding Stress, Trauma, and Resiliency course is an intro-level training designed for anyone working within the first responder community, including first responders, support staff, and others in related roles. This training provides a comprehensive overview of common mental health concerns such as stress, trauma, PTSD, depression, substance use, and suicide. Participants will learn to differentiate between typical responses to stress and trauma and those that may require further attention or professional intervention. Additionally, myths and facts about suicide are explored, and resources are provided to help individuals find the right therapist and treatment options. This course is ideal for increasing mental health awareness and promoting resilience within the first responder community.
